The Yukon Energy Corporation’s innovative LNG Fueled Power Station won The Association of Professional Engineers of Yukon (APEY) 2016 Yukon Engineering Excellence Award earlier this month.
Allnorth was responsible for the project management of this new power station development. The scope of work encompassed LNG truck offloading, the LNG storage tanks, vaporization, the send out pump, and two natural gas generators producing 8.8 MW of electricity to a localized substation.
The Whitehorse Diesel – LNG Conversion Project consisted of the construction of a new LNG – fueled generating station and associated infrastructure adjacent to the Yukon Energy’s existing primary power generating station, the Whitehorse Rapids Hydroelectric Dam & Thermal Generating Station.
This LNG fueled power plant is one of the first of its kind in Canada.
