Founded in 1927, Georgia-Pacific is one of the world’s leading makers of tissue, pulp, paper, packaging and building products, including Oriented Strand Board (OSB). OSB is a versatile building product, used in the construction of roofs, walls and floors in new homes, as well as in other commercial and specialty applications.
As a result of their experience and strong history in the OSB sector, the Allnorth team was hired by Georgia-Pacific in 2015, to provide engineering services, from the initial concept phase through to completion, for an innovative confidential project at their Hosford OSB plant in Florida, USA. The objective of the project was to reduce operating costs, while maintaining product quality. In 2017, the project was successfully completed, ahead of schedule and under budget, with the new technology providing substantial savings in Georgia-Pacific’s ongoing operational costs.
With a 40-year history and a team of over 450 people, Allnorth provides multi-discipline engineering and technical services, including civil, mechanical, structural, electrical / automation, and process engineering to the pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, infrastructure, and forestry products sectors across Canada and the USA.
