Graham Infrastructure LP – Calgary (Graham) contracted Allnorth to provide engineering services for temporary works on a bridge overpass, crossing an existing Canadian Pacific Rail (CPR) line and future light rail transit (LRT) line. This project was one of 29 major transportation construction projects The City of Calgary embarked upon in 2018 to enhance Calgary’s infrastructure network.
Allnorth reviewed preliminary designs and provided recommendations for the project, while also delivering final stamped designs for the subsequent temporary works, which included:
- Modifications to sand jacks
- Temporary bracing to facilitate girder lifts
- Deck overhands and falsework
Furthermore, Graham, requested support for the associated wildlife crossing. Allnorth was responsible for designing temporary bracing solutions that ensured the stability of girders during crane lifts and prior to the installation of permanent diaphragms and cross bracings. Additionally, Allnorth undertook the design of formwork for the deck overhang concrete and deck soffit concrete between girders.
