In 2015 Allnorth was retained by Clearwater Paper Corporation to provide design and engineering services for their pulping optimization project.
Allnorth’s scope of work involved all the civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls design for the installation of third party equipment/technology. This included the chip conveyors, the cooking system, diffusion washer, blow tank, polysulphide liquor preparation, high density pulp storage, bleach plant upgrade, and the balance of plant changes associated with the cooking system, plus the necessary building alterations.
During 2014, Allnorth had developed a solution with the client, using comprehensive energy efficiency studies that leveraged Allnorth’s extensive knowledge of the pulp-making process and advanced process simulation capabilities. This approach enabled accurate predictions of outcomes for a number of alternative implementation methodologies, and determined the solution that would deliver the highest rate of financial return and environmental sustainability.
As the world’s first purpose-built polysulfide pulp digester, this transformative project sets new industry benchmarks for pulp yield, energy conservation and reduced emissions.
