The Macassa Mine is located in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, and remains one of the highest gold grade mines in the world. High-grade ore is mined and processed at the mine/mill complex producing a doré gold bar which is shipped off-site for further processing.
Allnorth is providing Engineering and Procurement (EP) services required to upgrade the milling capacity at the Macassa Mill. The upgrade is necessary in order to process the additional ore from the Macassa No. 4 Shaft that is currently being developed.
The project scope includes a new crushing plant, ore storage, grinding circuit, leach tanks (including a new gallery on top of the new and existing
leach tanks), and upgraded elution circuit, gold room, and dewatering/thickening. Upgrades are also being implemented for the new utility systems such as water and air, along with a new reagent mixing and distribution circuit.
Allnorth is providing multi-disciplinary engineering, capital cost estimating to a -10/+15% level of accuracy, procurement and construction management services.
The expansion will increase Macassa’s production from 1,600 MTPD to 2,500 MTPD of ore, allowing it to operate as one of the highest gold grade mines in the world.
