Domtar was faced with replacing a non-pressurized Eop upflow pre-tube with a new pressurized Eo(HT) pre-tube vessel at its Dryden, Ontario pulp mill. The plan was to remove the existing oxygen mixer and replace it with a modern mixer to improve oxygen mass transfer. With a longer retention time and a higher operating temperature than the existing pre-tube, the project objectives include chemical savings and allowances for a future unbleached production rate of 1250 ADMt/d.
Domtar engaged Allnorth to define the project scope and complete FEL3 engineering deliverables for a capital cost estimate (CCE ±10%) that were required for Domtar’s gate 3 appropriation review.
In addition, Allnorth provided air emissions permitting support and a facilitator for process hazard analysis (PHA).
