Mercer Peace River Pulp Ltd. (Mercer Peace River) engaged Allnorth as Owner’s Representative for various capital projects within its Peace River mill located approximately 500 km north of Edmonton, Alberta. Allnorth supported Mercer Peace River to ensure the successful implementation of a variety of projects including the following:
- 4th Evaporator Effect Replacement. Replacement of a large 250,000 pound heat exchanger and associated ducting and piping;
- Digester Carbon Steel Piping Upgrade and Replacement;
- 2022 Double Block and Bleed Project;
- Effluent Spill Pond Pumping System Upgrade;
- Black Liquor Cooler Replacement;
- Digester Bottom Circulation Heater Replacement;
- Weak Black Liquor Cooler Upgrade and Replacement.
In this role, Allnorth’s responsibilities on each project included:
- Coordination of work scope definition, construction work package creation, contractor selection and materials procurement. Overseeing project cost control and reporting;
- Coordination with mill operations and maintenance groups, contractors, and sub-contractors to schedule and plan construction, shutdown requirements, commissioning, start-up and project closeout requirements;
- Coordination and management of safety, construction, commissioning and project closeout activities.
