In August 2015 a high load caused significant structural damage to the Highway 97 overpass structure at the Highland Valley Copper mine near Logan Lake, BC.
Allnorth was hired by Teck Highland Valley Copper Partnership to provide an emergency assessment of the structure and recommendations for reopening of the highway in a
restricted capacity. Allnorth also provided recommendations for temporary shoring of the damaged bridge components so the highway could be reopened to unrestricted traffic. The scope of work also included an analysis of the structure in the damaged condition and recommendations for restricted overpass usage with mine traffic.
Repair recommendations were made to bring the structure back to the pre-existing condition allowing normal mine operating traffic. Allnorth supported Teck through negotiations with the insurance company.
Allnorth’s design was accepted by the insurance agency and repairs to the structure were completed in September 2016 bringing the structure back to the pre-existing condition.
