Cranna Crescent in Merritt BC is approximately 485 metres in length with an 18.3 metre right of way. The existing infrastructure was aging and the road surface required replacement. The project involved the detailed design of Cranna Crescent and included water and sewer infrastructure replacement, roadway realignment, curb and gutter, sidewalk and grading, with an urban appeal.
Two design options were developed: one which included on-street parking for residents and the other option to eliminate street parking to reduce project costs. Ultimately, it was determined that on-street parking was of prime importance to the residents and the design was completed to optimize parking.
Allnorth’s scope of work as Prime Consultant included topographical survey, stakeholder liaison, report evaluation, preliminary design of two options, detailed design of the preferred option and construction cost estimates.
With extensive experience in the removal and replacement of aging utilities, Allnorth was able to ensure the aging infrastructure was maintained / upgraded while replacement infrastructure was planned and constructed in a sustainable manner. The design was cost effective and constructible, and with the option to provide traffic management plans and construction staging plans to minimize disruption for the local residents.
