As part of the larger Low Odour Conversion project at Northwood, Allnorth provided design and cost estimating services from concept through appropriation and detailed design for the precipitator, inlet and outlet breeching, and induced draft fan. The new equipment is located within the existing plant, resulting in a very complex structural steel design. In addition, extensive finite element analysis was required to design the twin “hockey stick” inlet breechings as self-supporting structures. 3D laser scanning was employed early in the design process to ensure the new equipment would fit into the available space, and later during construction to confirm the exact required dimensions of the inlet breeching prior to installation.
