Neptune Terminals is one of the largest multi-product bulk terminals in North America, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Port Metro Vancouver, BC. There are three berths at the terminal. Berth One is used to load steelmaking coal shipments, Berth Two for potash and Berth Three for potash and phosphate rock.
In 2008, Neptune Terminals hired Allnorth to complete structural repairs of the Berth One wharfhead and berthing dolphins. The scope of work included engineering services and construction management.
Allnorth developed the scope and schedule to carry out the repairs and provided direction to the pile driving contractor during the two week operational shutdown. Scope preparation included core sampling of the wharfhead deck and dolphins to determine the number of replacement timber required.
The project came in successfully on time and on budget, with piles driven under the existing wharfhead and berthing dolphins within very tight time constraints.
