Ruskin Construction Ltd. contracted Allnorth to provide structural analysis, design, and construction engineering services for the Goodpaster River Bridge located at Fairbanks, Alaska.
The structure selection was based on the ability to transport the spans to the site versus foundation requirements; with the bridge comprising six 21 metre simple spans.
Allnorth’s evaluation matrix showed the concept provided by the client was far more costly to construct with less serviceability than the constructed solution.
Allnorth worked with two local engineering firms which supplied the geotechnical and quality management services. During construction, our foundation design required modification due to the presence of permafrost which had not been noted during the owner’s geotechnical investigation.
The project was completed on-time and under budget.
