Hog Pile Survey, Port Alberni Mill, Catalyst Paper
Catalyst Paper required a monthly survey to determine the volume of a hog pile at their Port Alberni mill. The hog pile was located on the mill property next to a high traffic area, so it was not possible to go onto the pile to conduct surveying due to continuous truck and loader traffic. By using Allnorth’s 3D scanner, we were able to collect the survey data from a safe location adjacent to the pile. The data collected from the site was then processed back at the office, and the 3D volume data was submitted to the client in a report.
Allnorth’s responsibilities for this project included:
- 3D scanning and modeling
- Surface area and volume calculations
