Director of Mining Project Development Rod Tyreman joins the Allnorth team
Allnorth is pleased to announce Rod Tyreman has joined our mining team as the Director of Mining Project Development, with 24 years of international experience in mining and milling. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, from Laurentian University in Ontario. He has played key roles in various stages of a mining project’s life cycle, ranging from concept to commissioning, and he has held a wide array of strategic positions in numerous mining operations, anywhere from start-up to mine closure.
During his career, he has spent the majority of his roles with various gold mining companies, with seven years in various processing engineering and consulting roles, a number of gold plant start-up’s, and a year coordinating a shaft sinking project.
Rod began his career in the early 90’s as a mill operator at Placer Dome’s Campbell mine. In 1997, he had his first exposure to project work, constructing and commissioning the Madsen Goldcorp processing plant as the Mill Superintendent.
Rod was Goldcorp’s Senior Metallurgist from 1999 to 2004, during a pivotal period of the company’s growth. During that time, the team built a brand new mine, a gold processing plant and a paste backfill plant, and was responsible for a significant transformation of the Red Lake Mine.
Next, Rod gained international experience managing processing activities at the Omai Gold mine in Guyana, until its closure. He proceeded with construction coordination roles at projects in Turkey, Nevada and Arizona, and, most recently, managed processing activities at Barrick’s Pueblo Viejo mine in the Dominican Republic, an exceptionally complex metallurgical operation.
Prior to this, he also managed key roles with various companies that included New Gold’s New Afton mine, and Detour Gold, where he was responsible for the commissioning and ramp-up of the Detour Lake mine.
Rod also worked five years with Hatch, where he played crucial roles on a range of projects; he was responsible for the process engineering at Eldorado Gold’s Tocantinzhino project in Brazil, Kinross’s Fruta del Norte project in Ecuador, and Vale’s Clarabelle project, where he was responsible for the mill flowsheet modifications, amongst others.
Rod has had extensive international mining experience and continues to be an active member in health and safety committees at mines, continuous improvement committees, and local mining committees. Rod also has made numerous presentations at local CIM venues and mineral processing conferences.
