ERCO Cell Line 7 Capacity Increase

ERCO Worldwide (ERCO), a division of Superior Plus Inc., owns and operates a Sodium Chlorate Plant in North Vancouver, BC. Sodium Chlorate is an industrial chemical (salt) produced from water and common table salt in a reaction with electricity. The manufacturing process involves the electrolysis of an acidified sodium chloride solution in a specially designed electrochemical cell. The Cell Line 7 Rectifier reached the end of its service life and needed replacement. The new Rectifier is capable of delivering more DC current, increasing the sodium chlorate production for this cell line. A new dual-cell Cooling Tower, new Secondary Condenser, two new Level Pots, new Hydrogen Header, new Exhaust Gas Seal Tank, and a new Brine & Mother Liquor Feed System were installed as part of the project.

ERCO retained the services of Allnorth to complete the detailed mechanical, piping, and civil/structural engineering for the project. Allnorth prepared and issued the mechanical/piping and civil/structural tender packages and completed the respective bid evaluations. We were also responsible for the electrical grounding grid design around the new CoolingTower.
