Allnorth Consultants was responsible for upgrades to the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal to accommodate BC Ferries line of new Super C Ferries. The scope of this project included the engineering, design and the demolition of old structures to allow installation of new dolphins, wingwalls, vehicle ramp with active lift system and service dock. The fendering system for the new dolphins and wingwalls used state of the art parallel motion technology which produces 40% lower reactive loads, thus allowing reuse of the existing backing structures, reduces maintenance and extends structure service life. The vehicle ramp active lift system is fully automated with deck sensing and independent upper and lower deck level adjustments under full active traffic load. The old ramp lift structure was reconfigured and refurbished allowing reuse of most of the marine foundation and lift steelwork.
