FRP Duct Replacement (Catalyst Paper)

Catalyst Paper Crofton Division needed to replace a section of 60” diameter ducting that had failed. The section of ducting that was to be replaced spanned two floors in the building and had a complex routing through a significant number of pipes and strutural members. The client wanted to maximize the pre-shutdown work on the ducting spools and ensure properfit up during their short shutdown. The ducting was scanned using our 3D laser scanner. The scanned 3D images were then used to create a model of the ducting section that was to be replaced. By using the scanner for this project, we were able to produce an efficient and accurate design that met the client’s needs and allowed for a successful intallation during their short shutdown.
