Allnorth provided multiple services for an upgrade to a cell line rectifier in a sodium chlorate plant, including 3D scanning and detailed mechanical, piping and civil/structural engineering. To create accurate plans and section drawings, Allnorth’s 3D laser scanner was used to visualize complex and inaccessible areas. Allnorth also designed the electrical grounding grid around the new cooling tower, and prepared and issued the mechanical/piping and civil/structural tender packages and bid evaluations.

ERCO Worldwide in North Vancouver, British Columbia manufactures sodium chlorate for the pulp and paper industry. The manufacturing process involves the electrolysis of an acidified sodium chloride solution in a specially designed electrochemical cell. This project involved replating the plant’s cell line 7 rectifier and adding new components, including cooling tower and surface condenser and long runs of large bore piping with over 180 tie-ins.
