Allnorth currently has an opening for a junior to intermediate level geologist with a Bachelor's degree in geology, geosciences or geological engineering and three to five years directly related mineral exploration or mine development experience. Applicant should be registered or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. Related experience includes field mapping, drill core logging, drill supervision, interpretation and modeling.

Experience would normally be gained through project work with a mining company or exploration company. Experience gained through employment with a geological or environmental consulting firm, and/or government would be an asset. A survey background or familiarity with Global Positioning Systems (GPS) would also be an asset.

Desirable skills include:
  • Experience and familiarity with principles of mineral exploration,
  • Experience with mine development, regulatory permitting, and environmental assessment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively convey geological, mineral exploration or mining concepts, in written, graphic and oral forms to clients and staff,
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, organization and team cooperation,
  • Client oriented approach to problems with a commitment to professional development, teamwork and high ethical standards,
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools, and
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
Requirements:
  • Computer literacy with MS Office, MS Project and geological software,
  • Field/outdoor experience,
  • Responsible, ability to work unsupervised, resourceful,
  • Experience with use of GPS/survey equipment,
  • Leadership qualities - able to work independently and make informed field decisions,
  • Physically fit – able to complete tasks under harsh conditions, and
  • Responsive – able to work with others for extended duration.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Geoscience or Geological Engineering. Applicants with an equivalent combination of education and practical experience will also be considered, and
  • Minimum 3 years experience in mineral exploration or mining.
